They're in seperate rooms, but they can still hear eachother. Thomas and Teresa are found talking in the dorms telepathically. Suddenly, Teresa is cut off, descending into complete silence. Thomas starts to call for her but gets no where. Soon after, he is found searching the halls for his significant other, but, he only finds an unknown room with the bedsheets messed up and the bathrrom door closed. Teresa was gone. But they find someone else.Aris, a boy from group b joins the glade group within hours. Days later of arrival to the dorms, with almost nothing happening, a strange man shows up, many calling "The Ratman". Around an hour later, the Ratman confides into the gladers about the tests and trials being ran on their brains, now know as the killzone. The trials were ran on the boys by a group called W.I.C.K.E.D formed by international government after sunflares hit the Earth, causing a manmade disease to breakout, called "The Flare". They are informed the choice to set out on an 100 mile journey to a safe haven through the most negatively-affected city on Earth now called The Scorch. They decide to the choice of the journey apart from immediate death. They all enter into a pitch-black tunnel to the city. Multiple astrenuous days later, a storm arises right before they reach the city. Finally, the gladers enter the closest building they can find, and are greeted by a strange man named Jorge. Thomas, Mihno, and Jorge converse for awhile and mutually agree that the boys will take Jorge and a friend of his, Brenda, with them to the safe-haven. But the questions rise, do they make it through the city? Do they survive the dangers of the scorch and its inhabitants? To find out, you'll just have to read the series.
